At TITANS, we care about creating a better future for future generations, which is why, in addition to bringing IT talent together, we are also dedicated to other goals – supporting inclusive education and mental health. We’d love to inspire you to support some of our favourite initiatives.
When the TITANS brand laid the foundation for quality IT freelancing in Slovakia, it drew on the experience of its founders, Marek Greško and Róbert Dusík. Since then, for more than 11 years, we have been creating fair conditions for IT talents and the companies that outsource them. We supply quality specialists to state IT projects and to Slovak commercial, non-profit and scientific organisations with international reach.
At TITANS, however, we believe that in addition to our successes, the public also deserves to know about our brand’s philosophical values. We have decided to share the non-profit organisations, initiatives, associations and events that we currently support.
Emotional Compass, founded by Anna Viľchová and Lenka Svoradová, is a year-round programme designed to improve children’s mental health, relationships at school and ability to concentrate. At TITANS, we are fully aware of the importance of mental health support, which is why we take great pride in being a strategic partner of Emotional Compass from the very beginning.
In response to the pandemic, the war in Ukraine and the increasing number of tragedies among children and young people, a short version of the methodology has been developed to cope with challenging situations. A Compass for the collective with children from Ukraine is also available. Róbert Dusík has tried out the Compass for Families with his family and highly recommends it to others. ‘It’s a short book that helps you get to know each other better at home, understand each other and communicate with empathy and respect,’ explains one of the CEOs of TITANS.
Our company is delighted to see mental health becoming an increasingly prominent topic of discussion in society. That’s why we supported the first series of the Nevyhorení podcast in 2021, whose success has significantly increased the level of awareness. We are currently addressing mental health topics in our blog articles.
‘Diversity has allowed me to live a normal life despite the disability I suffered from as a child,’ recalls Marek Greško. ‘My mother fought with all her might to make sure that I could attend a regular school with other children because she believed I would do better in a group with other children. And she was right.’
Given the personal experience of our co-founder, it’s not surprising that TITANS has supported the Rozmanita project from the beginning. It aims to give all children the chance to receive a quality education in an inclusive nursery, school, and community where everyone can flourish, regardless of background, needs, skills, or age.
In doing so, Rozmanita responds to two major problems in our society: segregation and low educational attainment. They are linked to the polarisation of our society, disinformation and conspiracies, the financial, energy and climate crises, intolerance towards minorities, the mental health crisis and the changing labour market.
TITANS supports education at different levels. Girls and boys aged 12 to 18 are encouraged to attend the Summer Camp for Talented Youth in Electronics, which we support, where they can develop their skills in electronics and information technology. At the C.S. Lewis Lyceum, we provide workshops and mentoring for students on innovation and entrepreneurship.
We believe that the best learning comes from real hands-on experience, so we also proudly support the DASATO project. This is a year-long program alongside high school that nurtures the personal and career development of motivated young people. Our company representatives also regularly provide workshops for high school students focused on resume building and careers in the IT sector.
‘The way we communicate with future generations and what we pass on to them will fundamentally influence the kind of society our children’s children will live in. We care a lot about this, and this is one of the reasons why we regularly participate in workshops and lectures with opportunities for discussion with smart young people,’ explains Marek Greško.
Did you know that TITANS is a member of the Slovensko.Digital civic association? It is a non-profit organisation that focuses on improving the quality of the government’s digital services in the state. Our company recognises the importance of scientific research, so it also helps scientific institutions such as the Kempelen Institute for Intelligent Technologies (KInIT). It recruits the right people for AI and machine learning projects.
Of course, we wouldn’t be a true IT company if we didn’t invest in developing the skills of our community. TITANS is a proud partner of top conferences such as CODECON, PyCon, Qubit Conference, ITAPA and Slovak Women in Tech. Our CEOs are also involved as mentors in the Pontis Foundation Budúcnosť INAK and Social Impact Award projects, members of working groups in the Slovak Global Network and the Forbes Slovakia Modern Country event, and members of the jury for the Pontis Foundation Via Bona Slovakia award.
And since we at TITANS are aware of the lack of inclusion in the IT sector, we are a long-term partner of the Aj Ty v IT association. It aims to eliminate stereotypes and harness the potential of women. ‘I consider the Aj Ty v IT initiative to be a very beneficial and comprehensive public service initiative in our sector. I am not at all happy about the fact that even in the 21st century, we do not live in an era of equality, and there is still a lot of catching up to do in the IT sector,’ says Róbert Dusík.
